The saying I believe is true ??

My story---I have been with Betfair since 21st November 2007-----and since then--up to 29th march had lost about £8060.68(I do keep records but might be slightly out over that period of time )--which works out losing about £24 a week or 3.50 a day--I can live with that.

since last August I have got 2 pensions meaning I receive about £220 a week --which before that date just lived on my savings--so life is a lot better now.

on the 29th March--made a decision ( thinking "MONEY GOES TO MONEY")---added £500 to my Betfair account--making the balance about £1000

and started laying the complete outsider ( in certain races) maiden's--sellers--condition races---very few handicap's---started with laying 300.00 shots(and often higher) for £2 / £3

usually about 27 races each day----earning about £50--£75 each day

after about a week--and about £400 up---the stakes go up pro rata

on Monday I withdraw from Betfair £2247.19--leaving £1000 balance--also in this 5 week period I have had some horrific football & snooker bets--losing in that period over £1300 just on them two sports !!!

on Betfair you can get a breakdown of you different bets.

summary of horse racing only

last 7 day's=plus £1603.73

last 30 day's=plus £3828.44

very happy with what's happening----last two day's(since withdrawal) up £243.58

Cheers Roy

lost £250 on one race yesterday--but still made a profit (on horse's only ) of £34.51

the loss was my own fault !!---backed the favourite for £10---and then laid, for £10, the one on BREEDING that I thought( my own decision)was worst in race--(Bonnie Grey) at 26.00--also laid usual system (Storming Harry) at 110.00 for £5

felt sick all evening and this morning for--- NOT STICKING TO WHAT'S WINNING ME MONEY !!!!

£1717.78 in account--so made £717.78 since Monday morning

Cheers Roy

morning roy...truly outstanding going biggrin...been watching with interest and have a couple of questions

are you placing your lays early on or waiting till just before the off as i note some of those betfair prices can go wildly high just before the off increasing liability ?

are you playing all non handicaps flat and nh or just maidens, sellers and conditions on the flat ?

would like to give this a go to small stakes at first but need some clarification on race type ect...

thanx

pedro

Hi Pedro

yes is going very wellbiggrin

if you are laying 200/1---does it matter that you lay it for 250/1 ??--ok you only make £4 rather than £5 --risking £1000--but it should not win (famous last words)

usually wait till about ten minutes before race---trouble with the races I bet in--like today--the races are all running within 5 minutes of each other--so winnings will not be back in your account for backing in next race---today2.00--mark.---2.05 nav.---2.10 ripon--2.15 Lim.---2.20 strat. ???????--so need to look at races early and decide which too leave alone--today it was easy---IRISH races--they do not have the volume of money bet on them---prices jump all over the place !!!--you can lay for 150.00--and two minutes later it is being backed at 50.00 ??---will happen again later--with the bumper races all roughly the same times

types of races

maidens( hurdle races with lots of runners are best)--layed 13 out of 20 in one the other day--also back the short price horses in same races--won £96.60 in that race biggrin

sellers--condition races---the odd handicap---if fav. is very short priced---8 runners at least(may look at 6/7 runners!!)--smaller the field more chance of outsider coming in !!---like South African races--favourites do very well out there !

on holiday from Tomorrow---not taking laptop with me, so will be a nice breakbiggrin

Cheers Roy

thanx again for the input and enjoy your holiday

Just getting around to catching up with things.

Well Done with this idea Roy.. you'll be paying the premium charge soon !!...omfg.gif

.have you monitored the odds in running  for doing the lays ?- they do jump about all over the shop as you say - I guess people are trading with them- if your 150s for example go down mostly to say 50/70, it would greatly reduce any liability- downside is I suppose that they wouldnt match but perhaps worth noticing if they would.

Have you done any research at all on   place laying your selections ?

Hope you have a good break...............be Barbados from now on surely...relax.gif

best of luck for this to keep going well for you..biggrin

Pedro

This is something to try to get you used to laying without a lot of risk

dob - double or bust

choose a horse that even if you think it might not win- should run well

example - do a £2 bet at  odds on offer - say 12.00...£2 comes out of your account

put in a keep lay for £4 at 6.00....nothing else comes out of your account...always twice the stake for half the odds

if the horse runs well enough to get down to 6.00...your lay bet will match and show a green £2 for every horse in the race

if it doesnt match you just lose the £2 bet as usual

give it a trial

Its not as easy as it sounds Pedro, but you will have the advantage of experience of how the in running odds move in relation to whats happening in the race.

You can play about with the lay odds and stakes to create more or less winnings with more or less risk.

good luck biggrin

Time to update this thread

left on a down note

27th May--3.55 race--lost £1060.30------paid in £1000

very next day

lost £1071.00--5.45 race !!!------------paid in £1000

so lost £2131.30 in two days

profit on rest of those two day's and up to 9.00 pm last night

£1726.17( in 12 day's--and I was away for 3 of those !!)

so nearly got it all back

my son has sent me a "betting plan"---to build my daily betting bank--i.e 50% of daily winnings added to starting bank---25% to reserve fund---25% clear profit
